Signs Of Spring:
first duck eggs of the new year
to celebrate the onset of spring a special meal is in order. pictured is a lamb meatloaf poached inside cabbage leaves with a duck-egg and nutmeg hollandaise glaze. recipe taken from an antique cookbook.
medicinal herb seeds started in the fall to take advantage of cold stratifying temperatures out in the elements. these do not need the warmth of a greenhouse to germinate.
lomatium seedlings started in the fall and appearing the first full moon in january. just in time for imbolc!

early spring wild plants emerging, these are right on the beach and have been mulched with seaweed all winter. the geum reminds me of agrimony.
